G Stephens, Inc. partnered as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Project Management Services of the New Juve Behavioral Health Pavilion (BHP) - a Patient Tower and Outpatient Services Building. The project included construction of a new 7-story building plus basement area, 154,000 +/- square foot BHP on the Akron City Hospital campus. The BHP facilitates relocated services from the St. Thomas campus for Behavioral Health inpatient (60 patient rooms / beds) and outpatient services. The project includes a connection to an existing tunnel, a bridge from the south parking deck, and a bridge from the former “2 East” patient unit to the new facility. The building is located on the site of the demolished School of Nursing.
The general program of the BHP consists of behavioral and non-behavioral areas including a reflection center and historical area for Alcoholics Anonymous, a new kitchen / cafe, dock loading / unloading zone, two levels for outpatient services for BH, a floor of shell space with a mechanical / electrical equipment area and 4 levels of inpatient services
GSI coordinated the renovation and build out of the existing 2204 sf second floor hospital space with a bridge to the new BHP, GSI additionally coordinated installation of fire systems for rated walls, installation of overhead and inwall MEP’s carpentry, HVAC, thenological upgrades and final finishes. GSI’s responsibilities included scheduling sub-contractors, mitigating design issues, review potential change orders, processing request for information, managing the punchlist process, and coordinating regulatory agency inspections, Additionally, GSI facilitated the flow of project documentation and photo documentation of the project using Open-Space, 360-degree video software.
